In August 2025, a few friends gathered in front of the room-length white board at Taylor University and sketched out a draft of some thoughts regarding the various people, events, communities, movements and so on that shaped what we call “new monasticism” (or whatever). The first draft had lines running from this symbol to that symbol all over the place, but the lines got too complicated and I have left them out in this representation. In time, perhaps we can also link this diagram to websites, but for now it is just a little timeline that might be helpful as you read my writings about new monasticism(s).
